Dr. Justin Mitchell grew up in Wisconsin and graduated with highest distinction from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with dual degrees in zoology and biology before earning his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident and earned the School of Medicine's Gold Humanism Award, followed by a sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship at one of the most respected programs in the world, training alongside pioneers of modern knee, shoulder, and hip surgery and co-authoring a textbook on hip arthroscopy.
Since 2016 he has practiced as an orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where his practice focuses on complex knee injuries, ligament reconstruction with internal brace technology and biologic augmentation, and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and hip. He also teaches as a Clinical Assistant Adjunct Professor in the University of Wisconsin–Madison Department of Orthopedics, and has cared for professional athletes across the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, professional soccer, and the U.S. Olympic Team.

Beyond the Clinic
When he's not in the operating room or on the sideline, you'll find him on the slopes skiing and snowboarding, underwater on SCUBA, wakeboarding, fishing, hiking, camping, or cheering at a game or concert.
